The artist statement from the Turf Art Exhibit hosted by FlyPaper Magazine:
“The Grass Is Always Greener On The Other Side”
As a kid, I was always fascinated by this quote… the fact that we should have to compare ourselves to others or go after everyone else’s accomplishments while we downplay our own.
The fact that if you focus long enough on your own grass and your own color, your grass could be even greener compared to the others.
Turf has always fascinated me as well. The fact that it could look more healthy and vibrant than any other field, but at the end of the day, it’s just fake. Artificial, with no real story in the end.
The fact that these observations are so synonymous with the human culture is truly eye opening. Throughout this exhibition, you will see visual conceptions that represent these observations. Along with childhood memories, personal experiences, and close relative’s stories about our own Grass. About our own Turf.
