Chance The Rapper, whose mixtape “Coloring Book” became the first streaming-exclusive album to chart on the Billboard 200, was just announced as a headliner of Breakaway Music Festival. Presented by Prime Social Group and Peerless Management Group, the mixtape mogul will top the bill alongside previously announced artists such as Rae Sremmurd, Dillon Francis, Young Thug, and RL Grime.
Since breaking onto the scene in 2013 with the critically acclaimed “Acid Rap,” Chance The Rapper has charted an incredible and independent course without a major record label. The Chicago rapper’s “Coloring Book” debuted in May at #8 on the Billboard 200 and was called the “richest hip-hop album of 2016” by Rolling Stone. His feature on Kanye West’s single “Ultralight Beam” also received a shock wave of support; Vibe Magazine deemed it the “best lyrics, on the album’s best track.”
Chance The Rapper will call Columbus home for an exhilarating weekend at the Ohio Expo Center along with Ty Dolla $ign, Alison Wonderland, Benny Benassi, The Bloody Beetroots (SBCR DJ Set), Waka Flocka Flame, Madeintyo, Desiigner, Gryffin, Lil Uzi Vert, Skizzy Mars, Hippie Sabotage, Lost Kings, Elephante, Ookay, Prince Fox, D.R.A.M., Jerreau and Cheat Codes.
“The success of Chance The Rapper aligns well with the eclectic lineup we’re presenting for the festival,” said Zach Ruben, co-founder of Prime Social Group. “His sound speaks volumes for the current hip-hop community, and we are proud to bring this high energy performer to Ohio.”
