After a polarizing winter, Spring is finally here! With Spring comes a lot of new, cool tech that we should be on the look out for. This year brings some cool and quirky new items that could turn your Spring into a season to remember.
Samsung Galaxy S8
Of course Samsung’s new toy had to make the list. The new Samsung Galaxy S8 releases on April 21st and it couldn’t be a cooler device to start the Spring with. The new phone features a brand new screen that they’re calling the ’Infinity Screen’. It pretty much covers the whole front of the phone, which gives for an interesting design. Samsung replaces the home button with a sensor under the screen, much like the new Home button in the iPhone.
Couple the large screen with some improved software on the camera and Samsung’s new personal assistant (named Bixby), and you have a pretty awesome phone. Samsung really looked to cement a quality product with this device that the user could maximize and I think they’ve done it.
Grab you one on April 21st and check it out here.
Most famously known for Snapchat, Snap Inc.’s new transition into wearable technology has brought us Spectacles. They have created sunglasses that feature cameras on each side of the frames that can record up to 10 seconds of video. Why 10 seconds? Of course, Snap has decided to link them to the user’s Snapchat to give a first person view of their world.
I recently had the chance to wear and interact with a pair and they are awesome. They aren’t bulky, fit comfortably, and are actually stylish. Their product design team definitely hit a home run with these. I’ll be owning a pair soon.
They currently come in Black, Coral, and Teal and are priced at $129.99 on their site.
Bose QuietComfort 35
Bose has really outdone themselves with the new QuietComfort 35 headphone model. For the price, you’re getting a high quality headphone that creates quite the experience.
You can hear the detail to all of your favorite songs and enjoy them without the irritation of surrounding noise. The wireless headphones feature noise canceling technology that adapts to the surrounding environment. They also can connect to multiple devices and feature a microphone to take phone calls with.
Personally, I think these are this year’s Headphones of the Year. I’ve had a pair for about 6 months now and I can’t get enough of them. They are perfect if you’re trying to enjoy some music outside while enjoying the sun or reading a book — or both.
These are available in Silver and Black for $349.99. Check them out here.
JBL Pulse 2
The JBL Pulse 2 is a portable speaker that’s fitted with lights and a pretty cool design. The sound is top notch from what I can tell while using my friend’s. It’s sure to bring the life — and the lights — to the barbeque.
This speaker can do some awesome things as well. In addition to the lights, you can change them via an app that complements the speaker. So if you want a fire display or an ocean display to set the mood, they have it. It even comes with the sounds of fire and the ocean if you’d like. Also, they come with a cool feature where you can hold any colored item to a sensor and it changes the speaker to that color.
Lastly, to mention. If you have 2 speakers you can pair them together, which is awesome.
We’ve been hearing non-stop about Alexa, Amazon’s virtual, voice activated assistant that is typically tied to the Amazon Echo (link here). However, Amazon has developed a cheaper model, with plently of the same features.
The Amazon Dot is their 2nd Generation hands-free, voice activated device. Like the Echo, the Dot comes with Alexa and can connect to your home using wifi. With the Dot, users can play music, interact with other smart devices, and can even get the news or weather for the day. Thus, with the Dot, you’ll always be prepared; as Alexa will always know if it’s rain or shine outside.
With a smaller design and speaker the device can be used on the go, where there is wifi. At $49.99, the Amazon Dot is an absolute steal for a home assistant.

FitBit Charge 2
By now, we’ve all heard of FitBit and their wearable tech. However, they have decided to take their wearable technology up a knotch with the FitBit Charge 2.
This watch updates one of their older models with some cool features that’ll help you get outside and enjoy the warm weather. In addition to your workout and daily progress being tracked, the device comes with 5 days worth of battery life, GPS locating, and wireless connectivity to your smartphone. To top it all off, the bands on the Charge 2 are interchangable, so you can be healthy and fit in style!
Currently, the model has been recogized as the “Best General Fitness Tracker” by Wareable and is available on the FitBit site in 4 different colors for the price of $149.99.
