Breakaway Festival Takes the City Over
0The whole city came out for Breakaway Festival, taking place August 26 and 27 at the Ohio Expo Center. FlyPaper attended the annual festival, with acts like Chance The Rapper, Young Thug, Dillion Francis and D.R.A.M taking the stage, bringing high energy the entire weekend. As the festivities began, openers for the festival included Tribe, Tae Fresh and Jerreau. Jerreau played songs from his most recent release Never How You Plan, and the crowd kept up with him. The Aaliyah-sampled “Come Over,” included a switch to the original track halfway through, and when he got to the LeBron James co-signed “Really Got…
REVIEW: Even a Talented Cast Can’t Save This Summer Action Movie With So Much Potential – Suicide Squad
0With summer blockbuster movies winding down, I was able to watch DC Comic’s live action version of Suicide Squad. While I enjoyed the fast pace action scenes in suicide squad, it lacked a good story line that actually made sense. The movie starts out, introducing the villains in a “how did they get arrested” backstory. In these stories, you get to see your favorite Caped Crusader and Scarlet Speedster catch a few members of the suicide squad, the rest of the group are caught by law enforcement. Margot Robbie and Will Smith do a wonderful job of not only playing…
Review: Ghostbusters Relaunch Shuts Up Trolls
0Hey everyone how are you doing? My name is Jamie Minor and welcome to my first ever movie review. I first would like to thank FlyPaper Magazine for giving me the opportunity to speak on something that I have a true passion for. I truly appreciate the support. Now that I have that out the way, let’s get started… This movie……………………………..was pretty good. Shocking right???

Reflecting on RACE the Movie | #FlyTake @brizy_duz_it
0“There is no Black and White; only fast and slow…” On February 15th, The Ohio State University held a media press conference for the pre-screening of the anticipated movie, RACE, starring Stephan James (Selma) who was also in attendance with his two daughters. The film tells the story of the legendary track star and Olympic Gold Medalist, Jesse Owens. The film documents Owens’ journey from small town Cleveland, OH to his first steps on The Ohio State University’s soil, then onto his triumphant wins of four gold medals at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. RACE comes at a time when racial…
Flypaper’s Top 10 Movies of 2015!
0FINALLY we’re here. Time to reflect on the best of the best from 2015 (at least in my opinion). Below are my ten favorite movies from 2015. A lot of my top ten consist of movies that gave me the ideal movie experience. They either made laugh throughout, entertained with awesome actions and visuals, made me really get into the characters or all of that stuff put together. OR maybe their uniqueness really intrigued me. Who knows but you’ll soon find out (maybe).
Kevin Hart and the Superstar Penalty: A FlyPaper Review | @Walt_Boogie
0The warmth of the mid-October night surprised me. Only the sound of crunching dead leaves beneath the feet of the masses filing into Nationwide Arena served as a reminder that we were in the midst of fall. Security entrance points sternly reinforced a zero tolerance policy for cell phones inside the arena, resulting in immediate removal if caught. Large crowds always result in seating confusion, and this night would be no different. The attendants did their best to get people where they were supposed to be before ultimately giving up and pointing disgruntled guests to the nearest available seats with the “I’m…
Goosebumps: A Flypaper Review
0First Words To be honest, everything I saw leading up to me actually watching ‘Goosebumps’ looked stupid. The movie didn’t resemble the ‘Goosebumps’ material I was familiar with from my childhood. So I was instantly turned off by it and labeled it as a complete joke before I even saw it. After watching the movie though, I might of slightly overreacted…just slightly. Plot When Zach (Dylan Minnette) moves to a new (small) town with his mom, he isn’t really excited about it but his mood changes a little when he meets his neighbor Hannah (Odeya Rush). One night, when he feels that…
The Martian: A Flypaper Review
1First Words Whenever I see that a movie is getting great reviews, I go into that very same movie hoping I’ll love it like everyone else. It’s not that I want to be a follower or anything like that, I just want to enjoy the movies I watch. So if everyone else is enjoying a movie, then why shouldn’t I want to enjoy it? I want to take part in some of that happiness too. I’m not just going to try to be different for the sake of being different; That’s not me. But anyways, when I walked into ‘The…
As Heard By @Eh_Kees: Columbus’ Humble Son G.O. (@GregOwns614)
0Chicago born. Columbus Raised. I first met Greg Owens in 2010 at a mutual friend’s sweet sixteen. Maybe it was the fact that we were pitching at the same girl, but I remembered his name. Over the 5 years since first becoming acquainted, I’ve seen his handle floated around in the social media channels of Columbus music. I’ve paid attention from a distance, intrigued with the snippets that I’d stumble across. On September 30, 2015, he released The Greg Owens Project, and I committed myself to seeing what he was all about. You can skip down to the end of this page to get…
Sicario: A FlyPaper Review
0First Words I love movies that really bring the intensity. By intensity, I mean a the movie either makes you feel like something that isn’t on the “fluffy” side is about to occur or it just actually occurs, something that happens that is hard to watch or was unexpected and creates tension through your viewing experience. Watching something intense can be based around not being in the know but a lot of times that is a good thing and makes for great cinema. ‘Sicario’ is one of those movies that can thank its element of intensity because it indeed made for…
Made In America 2015 – FlyPaper Concert Review
0“All the world’s a stage and all the men and women are merely players.”- William Shakespeare What is usually a scenic parkway filled with cars, pedestrians and landmarks such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the mile-long Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was transformed into the music festival of all music festivals. Budweiser’s “Made In America Festival” (which partners with Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z) took place Labor Day weekend on September 5th and 6th. This year was the 4th year of the festival selling out at 50,000 tickets and Beyoncé and Toronto-born crooner, The Weeknd, headlined the festival. With big…
Straight Outta Compton: A FlyPaper Review
0First Words Man, N.W.A. is not a group I was really a fan of. Mainly because they came out when I was, you know, not born yet and I struggle to keep up with what’s going on in my time so I definitely take forever to go back and check for things that were before my time. I mean geez it took me forever to listen to Notorious B.I.G.’s classic albums and get around to seeing ‘Goodfellas’ (and that’s just to name a few). I’m getting off subject here but what I’m trying to say is that since I wasn’t…
Ant-Man: A FlyPaper Review
0Ant-Man Review by Nathan Gordon First Words Let me get this out of the way, I am Marvel biased so I will like whatever movie they put out unless it’s just complete and utter garbage. So in my eyes, every Marvel movie starts out with a good rating before it even comes out and usually can only go up from there. Now the question is, will ‘Ant-Man’ be the first wack Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie? Or will I say ‘Ant-Man’ is good like the rest of the MCU movies because I’m biased OR because it’s actually good? When you’re all…
DOPE Movie: A FlyPaper Review
0‘Dope’ Review by Nathan Gordon First Words Generic question time! Is ‘Dope’ dope? That’s just a natural question that is bound to pop up in your head whenever you see the title of the movie. In my opinion, once the (dancing) end credits roll, the answer to that question blatantly obvious. Plot Malcolm (Shameik Moore) is a “geek” (I don’t understand why he’s referred to as a geek by the way. Just because he’s smart, doesn’t have much friends and dresses like a 90s hip-hop head? whatever) who is just trying to get into Harvard, make music with his two friends…
Tomorrowland: A Flypaper Review
0First Words If you hadn’t already heard, director Brad Bird had the opportunity to direct ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ but decided to direct ‘Tomorrowland’ instead. Before you start calling him every type of “you’re dumb!” name in the book, maybe you should see what his reasoning was (right here)….you click the link yet?… Now that you’re in the know, you can call him whatever you want. Even though hindsight is 20/20, Bird is probably wishing he attached himself to the ‘Star Wars’ instead, the guaranteed to be more successful choice, while Disney is just wishing they never made the…
Mad Max: Fury Road – A Flypaper Review
0First Words I wasn’t really excited to see ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ when it finally got its release date and when trailers started to release for it. It just looked like an action movie that could turn out to be good to me. Also, I haven’t really followed the ‘Mad Max’ franchise so it hasn’t been a movie I’ve been longing for. But when I heard all the glowing reviews for it (talking about how it’s the best blockbuster since forever, the best action movie in a million years, the best movie of the year, it should be up for…
